Squawk Box Valentine's Box

With some minor tweaking, you can turn your Squawk Boxes into the perfect Valentine box.

Materials:

Squawk Box Cut Set
Squawk Box Cut Project
cardstock
glue

Directions:

First you will need to size both the bag and the Squawk Cut It you decide to use together. My bag went from 5.71 x 9.8495 to 17.2975 x 29.7984.  There are many programs you can do this in, either the cut program you use, or one of the vector art programs, like Illustrator or Inkscape.

Then next thing I did was had to cut apart the bag, so it could fit on 12" paper. You can see where I cut apart below. Again, do this in your Cut program or vector base program.
Next you will have to make some revisions to glue the bag together. I copied two of the tabs I cut off from the right side of the bag and merged them together, (Make sure you keep an unmerged copy of this, because we will use this tab several times more.  I also copied the score lines on the right and added them to the left.
For the other half of this topmost piece I again copied the right side I had previously cut off and rotated it around, then shrunk it down a hair. Basically I only want the tab from this piece so that it can glue to the rest of the bag. Should look  like this:
The bottom half of the bag uses the same tab again, to create another glue tab. Again rotating around and shrinking it horizontally then applying it to the piece that will be the flap. I also created a small hole for valentines to be dropped in in the back as well.
Follow the directions on the pdf on how to putt he bag together, then build the rest of the Squawk Box Cut It as normal and glue to the top flap of the bag.  Shop our Valentine Sale right now. Tonight is the last night to get 50% off any purchase of $16 or more with coupon code: Touchdown.

Santa Gift Card Holder

Add Santa flair to your gift cards this holiday by making this fun and easy gift card holder.

Materials:
Teabag Envelope Cut It
Buckle Cut It Simple Shapes
Cardstock

Directions:

I used the Teabag Envelope Cut It from the Love you A Latte Cut It Bundle, however I did have to resize to fit the card. You can do this in Make-The-Cut or a vector manipulation program like Illustrator, or the free version, Inkscape. You will want to size it to 9.5" by 3.5" inches.  I then sized the Buckle down to 1.5" wide. I cut both out. I then created a stripe of paper 8 inches long by .6968" for my belt.

Fold your card and glue tabs into place, wrap belt around. I secured the back with glue and left the front of belt free. Insert your gift card and secure belt with the buckle.

The Buckle is also available in our amazing Simple Shapes Super Plus Bundle on sale now!  Save an additional 25% on any purchase $15 or more with coupon code: Merry25.

Do you want to build a snowman?

We've got some great gift and card ideas for you made with the new "Melting For You" Product!

For a cute and easy gift make some white playdough for your "snowman" gift.  If you want to really add a little magic, you can mix in some white glitter.  Here is our favorite playdough recipe:

Playdough
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp. cream of tarter
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • 1 TBS vegetable oil
  • optional: food coloring
  • optional:  peppermint oil or other flavoring
Combine all the dry ingredients in a medium size saucepan and mix.  Add the water and oil (and peppermint oil if you wanted to add that).  Turn the stove on medium/low and stir.  It's really lumpy at first.  Keep stirring until it gets thick.  Make sure you scrape the bottom of the pan as you stir.   As soon as the dough doesn't look "wet" anymore, take it off the burner.  Dump the dough out on wax paper or plastic wrap and let it cool down.  Come back about 30 minutes later and knead the dough for a few minutes until it feels smooth.  You can add  food coloring if you want at this point.  Make sure you store it in an air-proof container!

For your gift, you can either put the "snowman" dough in a baggy or a jar.  Cut your "snowman" pieces out of the "Melting For You" Product and attach to your gift w/ a little baggy.

If you don't want to give playdough, think about giving the snowman pieces on a darling card because really... who doesn't want to build a snowman?  And this snowman won't make you wet, messy, or cold!

As you can see from all the photos, there are many ways to go about making your snowmen cards.
